For many years, the Aldinga Bay Residents Association (ABRA) has liaised with Council and other government and non-government bodies on behalf of the residents and ratepayers of Aldinga Bay. We have facilitated many local community functions and meetings, and through the monthly online newsletter – Aldinga Bay’s Coastal Views – have informed residents and provided a forum for discussion on items of local interest or concern.

When the Association talks, people listen, and we provide a voice for the residents of the Aldinga Bay region. In addition to regular committee meetings, we hold community meetings every 2 months on topical subjects. We strive to source expert guest speakers who can deliver current and factual information as well as respond to questions from the audience. Local members of council and the mayor attend when possible to provide Onkaparinga Council’s perspective on a broad range of current concerns and issues including up to date information on cars on the beach, housing development, environmental threats, infrastructure, transport and future plans for the 5173 and 5174 postal areas.

The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the 2 monthly Community Meetings, listen to speakers and take part in interesting and lively discussions. However, only ABRA members are eligible to vote. We are keen to extend our membership to attract a diverse and community conscious group of people who value our enviable coastal lifestyle, are interested in ongoing improvement, can provide ideas for consideration and identify realistic and economically viable possible feedback which we can present to local and state government representatives.

Why become a Member? ABRA relies on membership fees; local businesses advertising in its online Coastal Views newsletter (either through the new ABRA Business & Services Listing or more substantial advertisements), and fundraisers to fund its business and committee activities and make donations to local clubs, events and services. Our last major donation was towards a new roof for the Aldinga Beach Life Saving Club after it sustained considerable storm damage. Fees are only $10.00 per calendar year for single memberships, $20 for families and $5.00 concession. Fees fall due one month following our AGM which is usually in July/August.
