While the date for this year’s Federal Election is yet to be announced, it will definitely have to happen in April or May at the very latest (unless the current Government can find some innovative way of continuing in power without going to an election).

And while the Election will be fought overwhelmingly on Federal issues, there are still a lot of issues that will affect us here in Aldinga Bay.

Residents of Port Willunga, Aldinga Beach and Sellicks Beach, who have been part of the Seat of Kingston for many years, ably represented by Amanda Rishworth, will now be included in the Seat of Mayo where Independent Rebekha Sharkie is the Sitting Member.

(You may remember the recent by-election where Georgina Downer of the Liberal Party challenged Rebekha for the Seat of Mayo.)

Rebekha and Georgina are running again, while Ann Bourne has put her hand up for The Greens. The ALP have yet to formally announce their candidate.

Be that as it may, as soon as the Election is called and Candidates are announced we will be contacting them all to invite them to a Meet The Candidates Forum to be held at the Aldinga Bay Community Centre, at a date to be confirmed. (Most likely our regular second Wednesday of every even month, April 10th.
