Join us at this Open Garden in historic Willunga. This quirky garden on the original surveyed half-acre block combines sustainability with a sense of heritage and place. The Slate Garden is a dry country garden established on a bed of clay limestone and shale with an original covering of less than 2cm of topsoil.
A striking feature is the use of Willunga slate, from the local quarry, to create walls, courtyard, seat and other features. All plants have been selected for their ability to cope on the challenging windy site with no irrigation to supplement the annual 650mm rainfall.
A relaxed, environmentally friendly garden where nature has been the designer!
