This was Willunga Tennis Club’s first season since the club folded in 2016. We started the season with one Division 10 Boys team who were loyal and persistent yet were outdone by their competitors in other clubs.

Tennis comes in various shapes and forms; tennis has been adapted to suit players new to tennis. We had 3 teams compete in the Orange Ball Competition. The Orange Ball competition was modified by decreasing the size of the court; using depressurised balls and timing matches for only 20 minutes.

The popularity and success of this Orange Ball Competition meant that Willunga Tennis Club needed to enter another Orange Ball team to participate in the second half of the season.

At our first Junior Club Presentation, all Orange Ball players were awarded with a medallion and the first recipient of our ‘Junior Club Person of the Year’ Perpetual trophy, went to Maya Fisher who played her first season of tennis and seems to have falling in love with the sport.

Our Junior playing members are more than 16, with 20+ beginners attending Hot Shots training sessions on Saturday mornings, for children Aged 5-9. Any beginners wanting to try tennis are asked to register their interest through the Willunga Tennis Facebook Page or by calling our Club Coach, Adam Fonfe on 0478 600 211.

The seniors have even made it onto the court and dusted off their rackets. A fun filled Tuesday evening of Summer tennis saw the seniors enjoy an evening hit combining tennis and social skills, from beginners through to some old pros! Summer Season was finished off with a pizza and drinks evening and a huge thank you to everyone who has participated and played we greatly appreciate the support you have shown to the club as we rebuild.

Adam Fonfe has also been running Willunga Cardio Tennis sessions on a Wednesday night which is a great way to have a hit, get fit and not stress about the points! Due to the continued success of these sessions Adam is continuing these at the Tatachilla courts through Winter. Please get in touch with Adam re dates and we look forward to these sessions commencing back at Willunga in the summer season.

The Seniors have played in rain and shine and are so committed that we have already commenced a winter Senior social session on a Monday hit at 6.30pm. All players welcome and rolling registrations. For more information or to register your interest contact Nicky 0432 526793 or email willungatennisclub@gmail.com or just head on down on a Monday evening at 6.30 and introduce yourself.
