The south coast region now has a BUG (Bicycle User Group), with the goal of promoting good safe cycling routes and shared pathways in our area, from the coast of Seaford to Sellicks, through to the vineyard towns of Willunga and McLaren Vale. They are picking up on the great work already done by Friends of Willunga Basin and working with Council, State and Federal government representatives.
The biggest topics at the moment are the new developments at Aldinga and the plans to duplicate South Road between Aldinga and Seaford (Stage One of the Seaford to Sellicks duplication). This provides the ideal chance to build a separate shared path or veloway beside the new road.
The cost would be minimal compared to the overall budget and the chance may never come again. The Coast to Vines BUG are keen to work with the Main South Road Action Group on this as well as anyone else looking at making improvements on transport infrastructure and active transport.
You can follow Coast 2 Vines BUG on their Facebook page or contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 23 May in Aldinga, venue TBC.
