Thomas Mayor, Torres Strait Islander and Author of Finding the Heart of the Nation drew a crowd of 140 people to the Aldinga Library on Friday night to discuss his book and to share his experience on the journey to Uluru to reach the historic Statement From the Heart.

Thomas was joined by Elijah Bravington, Cultural Diversity Officer at the City of Onkaparinga Council who both gave their perspective of the journey and the importance of establishing a Makarrata Commission and achieving Constitutional Change to enshrine a voice to the Federal Parliament.

Thomas is in South Australia to speak at the Adelaide Writers Festival and those who attended appreciated that he decided to spend this Friday Evening talking with us and signing copies of his book at the end of the evening.

Those who attended were also able to enjoy some excellent local wine from SOURC’D Wine and Coffee Bar

Thanks to the work of the Aldinga Library Staff and Neporendi Aboriginal Forum Incorporated for organising this incredible evening.

Photos from the night can be found on the Onkaparinga Libraries Facebook Page.
